Is it possible to forecast if a team will win a game in a simple and precise manner? In a game, which team statistics are most important? The so-called Four Factors of Basketball is a phrase that was coined less than two decades ago to explain previously unanswered questions.
This study examines some of the most important aspects that influence a basketball game. The essential goal is to figure out what they are and how they can be used. The author analyses an idea that has gained popularity in recent years in the first part. An estimated number of victories is determined using a projection model based on those criteria. The reader will be informed about the significance and correctness of the results and the necessary analysis, it is hoped.
One of the most difficult difficulties in basketball, and not just, is providing accurate team win forecast reports. Every year, coaching staff and analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders with relevant technical backgrounds pool their talents. Their objective is to figure out which individual or team numbers matter the most and in what way. Methodology and Data Collection
All 30 NBA clubs’ data was collected and used for this study, which spanned the seasons 2012/13 through 2016/17. There were eight categories considered, which may be divided into offensive and defensive metrics. Only the regular season was looked at.
The outcome, which was the expected record for each team from 2012 to 2017, was calculated using three mathematical equations based on two separate models (150 observations in total).
